What Causes Loss Of Sensation In The Hands And Feet?

I have gone through some tests and nobody seems to have an answer. I am losing the feelings in my hands and feet to just above my knees. My A1C is 6.1 and my sugar stays around 110. My Dr. has tried to order a genetic test but I cannot afford 12,000.00. My insurance will not cover it because it out of network. What else can I do?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have loss of sensation in the hands and feet. Well numbness in a hand and feet is usually caused by damage, irritation or compression of one of the nerves or a branch of one of the nerves . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan ,MRI and nerve conduction test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may also also check for disc problem . Doctor may prescribe nerve supplement along with physical therapy . Doctor may also refer you to endocrinologist for problem like diabetes and diabetic neuropathy . For now do light exercises like walking daily and eat healthy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
