What Causes Loss Of Balance?

I have been diagnosed several years ago with BPPV. I recently had an episode and went for my first Epley maneuver. It helped eliminate the vertigo but I am still feeling off balanced. I also have a history of breast cancer diagnosed 2008 with a lumpectomy. I always worry that something else could be wrong or the cancer has come back. However, my blood tests at the oncologists are normal. I am not very active but I walk the dogs everyday about two blocks. I recently had one day of brown urine which really concerned me. I am providing everything that I have experienced over the past 30 days.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query loss of balance can occur due to many reasons like middle ear infection , some kind of growth in middle ear , fluid in middle ear ( Meniere's disease ) or BPPV . You should not ignore this , because sometimes the condition get complicated. i would suggest you to start with antibiotics like gentamycin, steroids and labrynthine sedatives for 5 to 7 weeks. you should go for vestibular rehabilitation exercises. You should consult with your ENT specialist and get evaluated. Doctor may order audiometry test and tuning fork test and treat it accordingly. avoid bending forward and drink green tea with ginger thrice a day . Also consult urologist for UTI as you mention brown urine .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
