Over the last month and a half I have lost 20 lbs., have no appetite and have been experiencing significant rectal bleeding (bright red blood). The blood is heavy enough that I have to wear adult diapers so I don t soil my clothes. The bleeding stops for a day, but starts back again. It is not always associated with having a bowel movement. About a month ago I had fairly bad constipation but that has now been relieved and I have regular bowel movements. I at times think the bleeding is over, but then wake up in the middle of the night feeling moisture in my underwear and when I get to the bathroom my underwear is soaked in blood. During the bleeding, the toilet water is completely red with blood. I have started feeling drowsy and dizzy and have no energy. I cannot get into my gastroenterologist for another 4 days but this bleeding has been going on over 3 wks. What should I do?
