What Causes Loose Motions?

Hello, My son is 4.5 months old now. He is suffering having loose stool from last 30 days. I visited doctor twice and found out that he is having a stomach infection. The stool report says he is having mucus in stool. He is passing stool 15-20 times a day but in a little quantity. He is gaining weight also and now he is 6.25 kg (birth weight 3.4 kg). Do I need to worry about his loose motions? And eating spicy and non veg food by me is the cause?

General Surgeon 's  Response
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The 30 days long diarrhea in a child indicates lactose intolerance. It is suggested to stop all external milk formulas, only give breastfeeding. Mother's intake of spicy food is not responsible for this condition.

In our clinic, I recommend zinc suspension for fast recovery, antibiotic for later on decision as per the recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
