What Causes Limpness And Low Blood Sugar Level In A 16 Month Old?
My grandson age 16 months woke up very rag dolly. Not his usual self, his parents took him to the hospital. He had low blood sugar, no fever and they ex rayed his chest and it was normal. They did an ultra sound was negative for the stomach. The doctors at the hospital are trying to figure out what happened. Brett puts everything in his mouth, we were wondering if he ate something to cause this.Carol sturdevant

Hi there... Carol... you must be pretty worried about your dear grandson..Yes you need to be vigilant about what goes in his mouth...but unlikely that this lead to low sugar.... sometimes children feed inadequately and doze off long hours....This can lead to a transient hypoglycemic situation.... Feed the kid adequately every 4-6 hours either fluids, liquid fruit juices or semi solid food... so that even if he falls asleep ( one cannot predict a childs sleep pattern or either force feed a child)... so feed him adequately while hes up.... Do not worry... sugar syrup/ glucose powder in water can give immediate relief in such situations. take care
