What Causes Lightheadedness?

I was taking a 4 mile walk the other day with a friend. I started feeling very light headed. She was talking and started to sound funny. I had to stop and shake my head and stand for a few minutes. This has happened before what do you think it is.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This could be either triggering of a vasovagal reaction due to deconditioning on your part (depending upon how well in shape you are to take a 4 mile walk) or becoming dehydrated or hypoglycemic during the walk.
You may wish to see your doctor and get a checkup to make sure the heart and vasculature are stable and hemodynamicly sound before doing that particular activity again.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
