What Causes Lightheadedness After Taking Metoprolol?

Hi there. My 85-year-old mom is taking lisinopril for high blood pressure. It s not helping as much as she had hoped, and her doctor just prescribed metoprolol. Mom thinks she s supposed to be taking both of these. Her blood pressure has gone down significantly but she always feels light-headed. Do you think the light-headedness is related to one or both of these? And is it ok to be taking both of these? Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hi,

Metoprolol is a beta blocker that reduces heart rate and blood pressure. If the dose is appropriate then patient usually doesn't have any symptoms but in excess dose, this type of symptoms can happen that require dose reduction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
