What Causes Light Headedness, Headache And Altered Taste?
I am a 30 yr old female and about an hour ago I started feeling very lightheaded, a little dizzy and flushed. It has calmed down a bit but I still feel a bit dizzy, my head hurts and I can t taste salt anymore. I think my taste in general might be decreased, but I definitely can t taste salt pretty much at all right now. Any idea what this could be?
Lightheadedness or dizziness along with headache is indicative of Migraine or Vertigo. Keep a track of your blood pressure, low or high pressure causes dizziness. Maintain optimum BP.
Dehydration, hypoglycemia, anxiety, stress may also cause dizziness. Stay well hydrated & maintain your blood sugar levels.
An altered taste may be due to gum disease, sinusitis, common cold or some medication which goes away by itself. Visit ER, get examined by an ENT, get audiometry test & inner ear examined. Get X-Ray PNS done to rule out sinusitis.
Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
