What Causes Light Headedness And High Blood Pressure?

For several years I occasionally get light headed. At times I have to sit down or I would fall down. last a few minutes. Take no action and it goes away. Today it happened and I immediately checked blood pressure, it was 72/62 pulse 141, 2 minutes later it was 74/61 pulse 87, 7 minutes later it was 144/80 pulse 81. I took no action, no eating, drinking, just sitting in chair checking pressure. Took a few times for machine to get last pressure. Rest of day was fine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear user!
Welcome to HCM!

Light lightheadedness may be caused by high blood pressure and the low bp too. It seems like you have not a stable blood pressure.

I would like to know if you take any medication and if you have done any consult with your doctor before.

If not I would recommend you to do a complete check up and analysis including:

- blood sugar
- cholesterol and blood fats
- heart ECG
- carotid arteries ultrasound
- consult to your cardiologist to determine the real cure

I wish you all the best!
Take care!
DR ERIOL.
