What Causes Light And Short Period?

I am a 46 year old female with normal periods in which I regulate every 21 days and my period last 7 days. Last month, August I had a period it was very light & short; it stayed on for only 3-4 days. For the last few weeks I ve started to feel a quiver in my lower abdomen. Could this be signs of menopause or having fibroid tumors? Top of the evening...Kind regards.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As you approach the age of menopause, periods become irregular and erratic. Bleeding is either high or low. Visit your gynecologist who would procure your hormonal levels (FSH, LH, ESTROGEN, PROGESTERONE, TSH etc.) to substantiate it.

Fibroid uterus usually causes profuse bleeding and frequent periods. It can easily be ruled out by abdominal sonography.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
