What Causes Leukocytes In Urine?

I tested positive for leurocytes but negative for nitrates. I had a uti about a week ago and dr gave me cipro for 7 days. I finished the cipro last Tuesday. Now I took an azo strip and it shows what I mention earlier. Do I have an uti? I ve been drinking cranberry juice, water and started taking cranberry 4200mg plus vitamin c. I read if its nitrate its a uti.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A high number of leukocytes in the urine indicates inflammation or infection along the urinary tract.

So,in my opinion the urinary tract infection is not completely cured.

I suggest to do a urine culture for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
