What Causes Lethargy, Skin Sensitivity And Night Sweats?

Hello Dr. Andrew Rynne, I wanted to ask if you can help me with my search for what is causing my intermittent days of feeling lethargic, pressure on my lungs, very sensitive skin (feels like a sunburn), knees & feet ache, sweaty fevers at night along with freezing, my heart feel like it s beating hard and I can t focus. It doesn t happen everyday, but sometimes it will occur several days in a row then give me a break for a week or so. I have had this condition for at least 5 years, it wasn t as frequent years ago, but it seems to have become more frequent over time. My doctor says it must be some sort of rare disease that he doesn t know of. It seem most like Lupis without the butterfly like rash, instead I have a rash that covers my body mostly around my waist where it s solid. The rash is not raised, it doesn t itch or hurt, I just look like I have a skin disorder. This all started a couple years after I went through cancer and surgery. I suspect it has something to do with it, but can t figure out how to control it. It is affecting my work and home life. If you have any advise or suggestions I would absolutely appreciate it. Thank you, Tom Calleja

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The situation seems a bit complicated. The symptoms you described may be due to many causes: side effect of chemiotherapy (if you have done chemio), thyroid pathologies, lupus as suggested by your physician. In this case a detailed clinical examination and some blood tests are needed. Please attach the exams you have done until now so i can suggest you what to do further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
