What Causes Leg Pain Upon Exercise In An Overweight 61-year Old Person?

When I go walking or hiking for an extended period, the bones in my foot and shin start hurting that makes it somewhat painful to walk. After this if I sit at my desk for a period of time and get it up it hurts again. This discomfort goes away if I don t walk or exercise. Curious as to what this could be. I am 61 years old and a little overweight.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The pain in the foot and shin would be due to abnormal use or stress of the muscles/ligaments in the area.
There may inflammation of the tissues involved eg plantar fasciitis refers to pain in the heel area due to inflammation of a band of tissue in the heel and foot.

You may need to look at your foot wear and also do moderate activity. Avoid prolonged activity that may cause stress to the legs, feet.
In addition to walking for half hour to 45 mins, you can try swimming or cycling which would not be as stressful on these dependent areas.

I hope this helps
