What Causes Leg Numbness With Pain And Knee Discomfort?

I am having a weird numbing in my leg just below my knee and above my ankle. After I ve rested and go to put weight on my leg, it sometimes sends sharp pains. If I m walking around I feel like my leg is falling asleep and my knee gets very uncomfortable. Also walking up and downstairs doesn t really make it hurt, but makes it feel tight. I play softball 3 nights a week and this started the morning after a softball night, don t know if that has anything to do with it.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I have studied your case and there can be three conditions one of which is causing this problem. Here are few conditions which can cause such problem.
1. low serum B 12
2. Transient nerve compression
3. Disc herniation in the back
To find out which is the cause in your case we have to get few tests like serum B 12 estimation, MRI of the spine and EMG testing of the leg. With the help of these test we will able to find out cause and then treatment can be started accordingly. It might be supplementation of B 12 or Physiotherapy.
