What Causes Leg Numbness After Appendectomy ?

My 17 year old daughter had appendectomy yesterday at 12 noon, immediately when she woke up from recovery she complained that her right leg from just above the knee all the way to her toes was numb. I went and got the nurse and she said it may be from positioning during the surgery and should get better. Well its now going on 36 hours and her leg isn t any better. Any thought?
