Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am having PCOD problem so i have irregular periods and from last 4months i am not getting periods, my doctor recommended me to take Meprate tablet. i took it for 5 days, my dose got over before 2days still i didnt get periods, may i know how many days i need to wait to get periods. Thanks.
Thank you for the query! Meprate is a synthetic progestogen structurally related to natural progesterone with actions and uses similar to all other progestogens in general use. It is used prior to the treatment of secondary amenorrhoea and for abnormal uterine bleeding not due to organic pathology in suitable doses. To induce withdrawal bleeding in a case of secondary amenorrhoea, the dose of 5-10 days usually suffices.
Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs anytime from 3-7 dyas after the last dose of meprate.
So i recommend you to please wait for aweek and still if your mensturation doesnt commence kindly visit your Gynaec Doctor.
Wishing you good health!
