What Causes Large Painful Bruise, Frequent Headache And Allergic Reactions Resulting In Hives?

Lately I ve been experiencing large, painful bruises that form within days but take weeks to go away, frequent headaches, and allergic reactions resulting in large hives almost everyday, and my symptoms only seem to be getting worse, even if I take allergy pills or Advil, etc. What should I do, and what could this mean? Thanks in advance, Desirée

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms mentioned by you do not seem to be due to allergy since they are not responding to anti-allergics. I suggest you to consult a hematologist and get platelet count and coagulation studies which includes prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time. Bruises occur usually due to disorders of coagulation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
