What Causes Lack Of Vaginal Bleeding Despite Taking 600mcg Of Misoprostol?

Hello Doctor. I am from a country where abortion is illegal. So, going to the hospital to demand for an abortion, especially when you are not married, is not ha possibility. I administered myself 2 tabs of 200mcg misoprostal(orally), and inserted 200mcg, but I didn t see and blood after more than 24 hours. So, I took another 600mcg and inserted 200mcg, but still no blood stain. I repeated the same doses after two days but, still no single blood stain. But I do feel cramp in my lower abdorment. It comes and goes. And this my 6th week. Please, what do I do?

Hello,

As you have already taken three doses of Misoprostol, it is to be taken 800 microgram at 8 hourly intervals up to three doses. Since, you have still not experienced any bleeding; there is a possibility that the abortion was not successful.

Even though you have mentioned that abortion is illegal in your country but you do need to be checked by a gynecologist. She may even do an ultrasound to assess the condition of the fetus.

In some cases, there are chances of incomplete abortion which may cause life threatening complications. So, it is not advisable to self-induce abortion like this without proper monitoring.
