The knot behind your left ear could be because of multiple causes, however, to narrow down the most probable cause, I would like to know certain details
1. age
2. Since when have you noticed this knot
3. Is it increasing
4. Consistency of the knot - solid/ fluid/ mixed
5. Is it movable or fixed
6. Is it warm
7. Any other knots
8. Size of the Knot
Based on the above clues, we can narrow down the causes - whether it is infection or cancer or something else.
The most certain way to know is by getting it biopsied ie taking a sample and examining under the microscope.
However, before that step, it is very crucial a doctor with appropriate qualification examines you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
