Hello:
You may be suffering from Mild
Cognitive Impairment. I suggest to stop drinking and keep record of everything symptom you notice. Try to have a healthy life: sleep well, eat healthy, do some physical exercise, and do some exercise for the brain as reading (read as much as you can and if possible have a discussion with someone else about the topic you read), chess, Sudoku, crosswords, scrabble, etc.
A Head CT or MRI would be helpful looking for ischemic injuries or other kind of lesions due to
alcoholism or
vitamin deficiency. When I see a patient with memory and/or language complaints, I usually ask for a CBC, glucose, thyroid panel, serum electrolytes, liver function tests, VDRL,
Vitamin B12 and folate. I recommend you to look for a
neurologist for a complete cognitive assessment, with focus on language and memory.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any doubt before your appointment.
