What Causes Itchy Skin Rashes On The Ankle While On Eliquis?

I started taking Eliquis 5mg about 2 weeks ago. I have a skin irritation just on my left ankle area. I thought they could be flea bites. Then just went online to find out if this was a skin rash due to this new medication. The irritation is very itchy, I ve been using rubbing alcohol and have to take Benadryl to stop the itching.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If this is confirmed that the allergic condition is due to the medicine taken then it is the hypersensitivity for that drug, and it may not need any symptom because it is the self-limiting condition.

In severe case, second-generation antihistamine can be used, like tab Levocetirizine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
