What Causes Itchy Scabs On The Scalp?

I have crusty scab like sores on my scalp also in my ears and nose. I have had this going on for over a year. The sores change in location over time. I have tried everything. I saw a dermatologist and she gave me clobetasol propionate foam for my scalp. It doesn t work. My scalp is very, very itchy. Also, the sores in my nose crack and bleed most of the time. Anyone have an idea what is wrong with me?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is very important to know the type of crusts/sores and the cause behind the same. The clobetasol is a steroid and would only reduce the inflammation. I suggest you visit the dermatologist and get a biopsy done of these lesions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Smruti Pevekar
