I have a small deep red spot with a darker spot in the middle aprox 1/2 inch across and is becoming itchy on my right hand around my thumb. It has been developing fluid for the past week and I have been squeezing it out. However, it is NOT getting better and I am becoming concerned that it may be a type of skin cancer. Do I have anything to worry about?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history, you are suffering from Pompholyx, my treatment advice is: 1. Do not squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 4. Other treatment options are an oral antibiotic and oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
