What Causes Itchy Red Insect Bites Marks On Ankles And Waistline?

Can chiggers infest a room? Every summer I get itchy red insect bites. I don t go out doors much. It only happens in my bedroom. No one else in the house complains. I see no insects or feel any creepy crawlies. The bites are mainly on my ankles. Some around waistline. All I know is that I am being eaten alive.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering from Insect Bite Dermatitis.

My treatment advice is:

1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
