What Causes Itchy, Red And Swollen Veins In The Right Wrist?

I am a healthy 54 year old women. Earlier this afternoon after doing some routine cleaning, the veins on the inside of my right wrist became very itchy red & swollen. There was no injury sustained what so ever. I immediately ran my wrist under cold water than raised it above my head to help alleviate the swelling, to no avail. The veins ruptured shortly afterwards. I m now left with bruising and slight swelling across the entire backside of my wrist with burning and prickling . What would cause this? Should I see a Doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to contact dermatitis probably due to the detergent that you used while cleaning.

I suggest using Calamine lotion for local application.

I also suggest using antihistamines such as Desloratadine one tablet a day.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
