Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a bump on my lip line that itches but does not hurt. Ill get one maybe a couple times a year, but is the same color as my skin and doesnt look like a cold sore compared to pictures I've seen of cold sores online. It also only tingles or gets more irritated if ive been itching it. Any idea what it is?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain an itchy bump over the lips can be due to a number of causes like herpes virus infection causing cold sore, allergic reaction, bacterial infection etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and also advise investigations as per the suspected cause so that a confirmatory diagnosis can be made and treatment can be correctly advised..
As of now you can take anti allergic like benadryl to relieve itching.. You can apply steroid based ointment over the bump to reduce itching.. Avoid scratching the bump as it can lead to increased infection. Maintain a good hygiene.. Drink plenty of water ..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
