What Causes Itchy And Flaky Skin On The Arch Of Feet?

I have itchy skin, that s flakey, and dry on the arch of my feet. I ve been soaking my feet in hydrogen peroxide, but I don t think I have been soaking them long enough. What am I doing wrong? Should I mix it with water or soak in straight, from the bottle, H2O2?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

This could possibly a fungal infection/Tinea Pedis; itching and scaling seems to suggest this possibility.
A KOH examination to look for fungal elements would be confirmatory in this regard. Presence of fungal element would prove it to be fungal.
Superficial fungal infection of feet should ideally be treated with an Oral antifungal e.g fluconazole Or Terbinafine.
Along with oral antifungals, topical prescription antifungals like sertaconazole, Luliconazole, Terbinafine are most effective in superficial fungal infecitons.
I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as appropriate prescription.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizien 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.

Regards
