What Causes Itching Sensation Post Ligation Of Esophageal Varices?

My banding of esophageal varices GR. 3 done on 10/02/2017 due to alcoholic liver disease . Now health wise everything goes well. 1) there are need to done again banding surgery after 3 month? 2) I am facing itching problem from last 3 days due to this, Redish spots on skin like reaction for 15 minutes 3) how much year I can live (now I am totally non alcoholic). Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You seem to have Acute Urticaria or Hives. It manifests as itchy welts and redness at various body sites. The lesions last for only a few hours before disappearing and later reappearing. Cause could be either an oral medication/drug, allergy to food or food preservatives, infection, alcohol, etc. I suggest you to use a soothing lotion, e.g., Calamine lotion, to calm down the rashes. In addition, I suggest you to take an oral antihistamine e.g., Cetirizine tablet once every evening for a few days.
