What Causes Itching Sensation On Back Inspite Of Using Antihistamine?
hello i am trying to sleep but my back is very itchy ive recently had an itchy back when i sleep but i usually just teake some antihistamine and put lotion on and go to bed. it is 11:30 at night here so i can not go to a store so maybe some home remedies and then some long term ones would be greatly appreciated!
Itching sensation can occur due to allergies, dry skin, bacterial infections or fungal infections. Hypo-pigmented patches may denote fungal infections like tinea. Anti-fungal drugs like miconazole should be used. Excess sweating can increase the infection and hence bathing twice can be helpful.
Bacterial infection like acne can occur due to excess sebum secretion. Antibiotics should be used. Antihistamines will reduce the symptoms. Generalised cause of itching such as diabetes should also be ruled out.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
