Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. This is awkward but ive had this itch in my anus for the last couple of nights. Only at night though and the itch feels very similar to pinworms. As I work with children and had worms as a child i thought that this was it so i treated it as such. However actually looking at the anus there is a very yellow discharge there. Its not leaking into my panties or anything. Its just sitting there. Should I be worried?
Itching sensation in the anal area is commonly due to pinworms. Get your stool examined. Your treating doctor can give you a course of mebendazole/ albendazole.
Since you complain of something leaking out of your anus, you are suggested to get physically examined by a GP to detect any anal fissure or hemorrhoids causing you such discomfort.
If leakage of mucus(slime) or feces(bowel movement) continues in your anal region it will cause not only irritation to the skin but will also cause infections.
You may need antibiotics. Take care of your hygiene. Wash your hands & wear clean cotton loose fitting clothes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
