What Causes Itching On Nipples?

I woke up this morning with the nipple on my left breast itching. at first I tried to remove what might be causing the irritation, but to no avail.I showered and it is still itching.I have left it alone to allow any redness to subside.I am left with a small area on the areola being red.I dont know what to do.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

I would recommend you to cortisone cream on the affected area twice daily along with frequent and regular application of a moisturizing cream on the entire breast 2-3 times in a day. Also, take anti-histaminic like tablet chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg twice daily. This should resolve your problem.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist
