What Causes Itching, Burning And Swelling In Vagina During Pregnancy?

I m 20 weeks pregnant,I have itching,burning & swelling in the vagina area.I went to my obgyn & she said I had an infection so she prescribed me with metronidazole 500mg but since taking it my itching,burning & swelling has gotten worse and painful.What could be the cause of this & should I go to the hospital,because its becoming very irritated.

Dear Madam,thank you for your consultation.as Metrogyl,which is antibacterial,couldn't completely cure you then I presume this infection is of fungal type causing burning and itching.so Yes,you should go to the hospital for a clinical check-up and a probable medicine change to some anti-fungal like Fluconazole.my best wishes for you and your baby.thank you.
