What Causes Itching Between The Scrotum And The Anus?

Periodically, I have an itch in the area between my scrotum and anus. I don t believe its is hemorroids as it is not the anal tissue, but just above that. I ve tried creams to (Preparation H Gel) try to relieve the itch, but I sometime find that when drying off from a shower I rub the itch to the point of damaging the skin. It will wake me up at night. It s just in this area; no where else on the body.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The itching you feel in the area between anus and scrotum, that wakes you up at night could be due intestinal worms (pinworms).

I advise to send a sample of your stool in the lab and ask to examine for ova parasites.

Skin parasites should get excluded through a physical examination by your dermatologist.

Keep the area well clean.

Hope this helps.
