What Causes Itching And Inflammation In The Vagina?

Hey! On Friday, my boyfriend performed oral sex on me. He was quite (sorry for being so graphic) vigorous with the clitoris. This was a new feeling for me as I have recently become sexually active. At the time, the sensation was great. The next day, I was quite itchy down there and felt uncomfortable. I grabbed a mirror and saw that my clitoris had blown up triple its size. I couldn t stop itching it either. I tried a cold press, took Advil, washed the area; neither of which provided relief. I went to the doctor today as the pain had become unbearable and he took a swab test (results come in 3 days) and prescribed me clotrimaderm cream 1%. I have put that on twice now and it provides little relief for the time being. Do you have any idea why this has happened and what it even is? And are there any remidies which can reduce the swelling as that is what s causing the most pain. Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

This is usually self-limiting and may not indicate any disorder however, in some cases urinary or std may be present if this last for more days.

I will suggest you keep the private parts clean and dry. Use of Lactic acid-containing vaginal wash at Bath time is advisable. Use of Condom, over the period of the next 2 weeks while having sexual activity is advisable.

I STD tests is done then in case of positivity you can have a week-long course of Doxycycline 100 mg. orally twice a for a week. Antifungal agents like Fluconazole 150 mg once a week.

A local ointment containing clotrimazole and clindamycin twice daily for a week to be applied on the private parts and vaginal tablets of Clotrimazole and Clindamycin at night for 7days.

Please seek prescription help from your treating gynecologist for getting oral, local and vaginal antibacterial and antifungal agents.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
