What Causes Itching And Burning Feeling On The Vulva And Pink Discharge?

Hi, I am 23, I have recently had the merena coil inserted aswell as having the lining of my womb lazered.. I have since had a period and am not due. I have developed a extreme case of thrush but mainly itchy and burning on the vulva. I have been using cream and tonight I will use a pessary I am just concerned as the discharge is pink and quite heavy looks like germalene cream! I have suffered from recurrent thrush in the past and had to take fluconazole for 6 months about a year ago due to imbalance. I also suffered from random vaginal bleeding for a while and doctors took me off the pill as they believe this was causing the hormone imbalance and I had my little procedure done and everything has been great since until this thrush, I am mainly worried about the pinkess as I know I am protected from pregnancy with the coil, many thanks!

Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Pinkish discharge with vaginal thrush can be due to little bleeding in the vagina, or it can be a side effect of the mirena coil which you have got inserted.
I would suggest you to get your oral glucose tolerance test to detect any diabetes mellitus, if present as diabetic patients get recurrent thrush infection. If present, it should be effectively treated to prevent any further complications.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
