What Causes Itchiness Around Breast In A Breast Cancer Survivor?

My girlfriend, who has had previous breast cancer, told me today she is experiencing an itch sensation (externally) in the breast area. She is concerned that it is somehow a possible recurrence of the breast cancer. She is under extreme stress caring for her aged mother. I think it might be excema due to that stress. Is that more likely than a cancer concern? It s external not internal, right?

Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

In my opinion, she has not to worry if she has only this symptom. But I will suggest a breast ultrasound due to her history.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera, Oncologist
