What Causes Itchiness And Swelling Around The Eyes?

I have red itchy skin around my eyes mostly upper lid area and some swelling. I have seasonal allergies and have been having allergy injections in attempt to reduce symptoms but have not had injections for 3 weeks and my eyes continue with above symptoms. The ENT I am working with for allergy injections indicated perhaps next step is consult with opthamologist but I do no understand why as my eye themselves do not itch nor is my vision impacted so would really seeing an opthamologist be the next step?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

I read carefully your question and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction. I agree with you that it doesn't seem to be an eye disorder, but the eye palpebra are also examined by an ophthalmologist.

So, it would be advisable to consult with an ophthalmologist too.
I would also recommend performing a sinus X ray study as sinus infection or inflammation (related to allergies) could cause swelling in this area too.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
