What Causes Irritation During Intercourse And Urination?

I have recently developed an irritation and pain with urination while passing my water and irritation during sex with my husband. We both are faithful to one another, I do not see any vaginal discharge or unusual odor. I do feel initially it could have been soap irritant, now after investigation it leans more to low estrogen level as I am menopausal, although I have not had my levels checked in several years. Other than make an appt with my MD, what else should I be aware of?

Hello,

Vaginal pain and irritation can be due to dryness associated with menopause. Also, infections like trichomoniasis, yeast infection can cause such irritation. So vaginal swab microscopy, culture, urine analysis/culture are required at this point. Follow up with your MD as scheduled for detailed evaluation.
