What Causes Irregular Periods?

I had a baby June 2014 and my period restarted in the beginning of September, since then I ve had my period every month but its just been irregular, but last month January I missed my period. I did have intercourse last September but I took 2 pregnancy test the next month and both were negative. I am also breastfeeding. So why did I not have a period in January?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
During breast feeding period might be absent or might be irregular.
As you had sex in between but test for pregnancy for two times is negative so this can be due to late period due to breast feeding.
But to confirm absent of pregnancy, go for blood HCG test.
Ok and take care.
