What Causes Irregular Periods While Using Birth Control Implant On Hand?

My birthd control method is the arm implant. I had fairly continuous bleeding for the first six months of being on it. That subsided, but now after the two times I ve had sex (over about a six month period) I start bleeding again. Is this normal or a sign I should find another birth control. It s obviously a less than ideal side effect

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Hormonal birth control can sometimes cause abnormal bleeding but you should rule out other problems first.

A pap smear, if you do not have a recent one, should be done and examination of the pelvis.

If these are normal then you should consider another form of birth control to see if it is this medication causing the problem.

I hope this helps
