What Causes Irregular Periods Post Miscarriage?

Hello doc, I suffered a miscariage in June this year and immediately after had a D&C done, I bled for abt 4 days after. Since than my period has been a bit strange and irregular untill it started regulating in October and Novemeber however i have now again skipped my period this month and am about 3weeks late. I have done at least 4 pregnancy tests which was all negative. Can you please assist in explaining to me what s happening to my body? I have been counting my cycle and monitoring ovulation and were trying to conceive but it seem like nothing is happening, a recent visit to the hospital also confirmed that my ovaries /whomb everything looks perfectly fine. Do you think I should see a gyni? Please advise...I m loosing my mind. Regards Shana

hi ,
Thanks For Your Question and Welcome To Health care magic

An irregular cycle is typically an indication that your hormones are out of balance. It may be taking your body longer to heal after the miscarriage, or there may be an underlying medical issue.

it may possible that your hCG levels are still high, there may be remaining tissue in the uterus that still needs to pass. If your body is unable to expel the tissue on its own, your doctor can give you medication to complete this process and help your cycle return to normal.

Apart from this there may be other possibilities like You're not ovulating
or You may have Thyroid Issue ,Hormones imbalance ...

But it needs thorough medical check up and investigations to spot a confirm diagnosis so I would Strongly Suggest You to Visit Your Obs/Gyne to rule out the underlying medical condition

I hope it help
