What Causes Irregular Heart Rate And Dizziness While On Metformin And Lipitor?

Hello, my doctor started me on Metformin 500 mg. bid and Lipitor 20 mg. daily for HA1c of 9. I know that gastric upset is a common side effect of Metformin but I also noticed since a few days back that I am having irregular heartbeats and feeling dizzy upon standing. He told me to stop both medications. I m also wondering if it is related to the bitter-melon tea and cinnamon/chromium capsules I m taking. Thank you for your time.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dizziness, chest pain along with low and irregular heart rate . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but in your case it is probably occurring due to a condition known as cardiac arrhythmia .I would suggest you to consult cardiologist without any delay to prevent it becoming complicated . The symptoms can also occur due to side effects of medicine you mention in query . Doctor may order ECG , tilt table test and complete blood profile test . Doctor may perform vagal maneuvers , prescribe medicine for tachycardia and doctor may use cardioversion , catheter ablation . For now take proper rest and do not exert your body .
