What Causes Irregular And Heavy Menstrual Bleeding After Mirena IUD Removal?

I m 37yo. I had the marina taken out 2.5 months ago. So I could get pregnant again. I already have 7 children. I got the marina put in because I would hemmorage every time I got my period. And this has been happening since I got it removed. I got my period and then five days after it finished I ve got it back again. Both times I ve bleed very heavily. I had cervical cancer cut out 12 months ago and had been given the all clear. I get pain in the bottom and sometimes top of my stomach. And also feel sick a lot. What is wrong with me?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the progesterone containing intra uterine devices do control hyper bleeding episodes via its hormone axis effects.

* The persistent levels of menorrhagia do require support with hormone medications to control the severe episode.

* Addition of tranexamic acid or ethamsylate works best level for support of excess bleeding from the uteine vessels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
