What Causes Involuntary Leg Muscle Spasms Upon Lying Down?

Good evening--my name is Mel, writing to you from MA... I m male, 63 years of age, ~ 180 lbs @ 5 9 ht... For the last several months, have been experiencing involuntary leg muscle spasms ONLY when lying down... Duration is anywhere from fractional of a second up to 2-4 seconds duration... can be either leg, ALWAYS feels like an electric shock running through, ALWAYS run from thigh-to-calf, and can ALWAYS feel it coming a second or two away... YOUR THOUGHTS, AND THANK YOU!!!

Hi,

The involuntary leg muscle spams upon lying down can be part of cramps secondary to magnesium deficiency, circulatory disturbances or else and the same must be evaluated with Doppler study of the lower limb to look into the details of circulation.
