What Causes Intermittent Tremors In The Leg While On Divalproex For Seizure?

My husband is taking divalproex DR 125 mg twice a day for seizure activity . He has been on it for about 2 years and is exhibiting some parkinsons like symptoms of tremors and sometimes he can keep his legs still. Is there a connection to this drug that is causing this?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

Regarding your concern, you should know that tremor is a common adverse effect of valproic acid.
But, the dose of valproic acid that he is taking is really small.
Coming to this point, you should discuss with his prescribing physician to switch into another anti-epileptic drug.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Best wishes, Dr. Aida
