What Causes Intermittent Sharp Pain In The Big Toe?

Sharp pain in right big toe that comes and goes. No visible swelling or redness of skin. Was wondering if it has something to do with the simvastatin I have been taking toe reduce my cholesterol. I have been taking that for about two years now. Do seem to be a little more sore and achey but I just chalk that up to the fact that I am over 50 and work construction. Have new work boots with an aluminum tip that are super light and comfortable so that s not it. Could it be a form of gout? Never have had that but have had bursitis.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The cause of your condition may only be found after keen examination of your toe by the Doctor.Possible causes may include: stress/strain, gout, infection....
I will suggest you take a pain drug like aceclofenac and a myorelaxant like miorel if the pain is intense.
If pain persist, you see the Doctor for examination.
Hope this will help
Wish you good health
