What Causes Intermittent Pain In The Right Abdominal Area?

Over the past couple of weeks I have had on again off again pain in my upper right stomach area almost under my rib cage. I thought it might be gallbladder so I started eating a lot healthier. I m not a junk food eater at all. I had an attack last night that involved my entire right side, including back with chills and waves a minor nausea. What are your thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sometimes, pain in the right abdominal area may be due to gastritis, constipation, acid reflux, IBS, GERD, indigestion, food allergy, etc. You can take antacids, PPIs to ease the discomfort. You can take Spasmol (spasmoproxyvon), one SOS if required for relief. Stay well hydrated, avoid constipation. If overweight, maintain healthy weight and switch to healthy lifestyle. But, at times such symptoms can be due to serious medical conditions like liver dysfunction, fatty liver disease, appendicitis, gall stones, etc.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP. Get all routine blood workouts and investigations along with imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. You will be treated accordingly. In the meantime, take balanced home made food. Avoid spicy, oily, packaged, frozen food. Stay away from addictions if any. Get treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
