What Causes Intermittent Pain In Stomach?

My daughter has been experiencing stomach pain off and on for a few weeks. She is in pain right now and says it hurts a lot when to gently push on the right side of her stomach. She does not have a fever. No vomiting. Do you think in should take her to the ER? She is nine years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I understand your concern for your daughter.
The severe pain on and off on the right side of abdomen can be due ulcer in GI tract, acute appendicitis, ureteric stone or some liver pathology.
My advice is you get her Abdominal ultrasound (USG) done. This will help to know the liver pathology. Then get her hemoglobin, complete blood count and lever function test done. This help to know liver function, HB and WBC counts.
Meanwhile give her antacids like Oral famotidine twice daily for 10 days, Tab Meftalspas twice daily for 5 days to relieve spasm and pain.
Hope this will help you.
