What Causes Intermittent Pain In Knee When I Stand?

My 8 year old daughter has been complaining of knee pain over the last 7 days. The pain is intermittent. It usually surfaces when she is sitting on the toilet or a certain type of hard chair, especially when she tries to stand up from the sitting position. Any suggestions as to what is causing this pain?
