Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I stay in delhi. My 3 yr child is having cough from past one month. It s kind of on and off. But he is not recovering completely. It seems to be dry cough initiating from throat due to which sometime vomits also occur. Coughing increases in night. I have visited many doctors and everyone is saying it s normal viral infection. Doc has suggested asthalin and budecort inhalation. Please suggest how to get rid of this problem permanently.
1. Three major points in deciding treatment of cough are its duration (1 month), presence of expectoration and presence of wheezing.
2. Since there is no response, ask for investigations: . Hb%, WBC for eosinophilia. . X-ray Chest for TB, pneumonia
3. Till then: . take 2 grain suhaga (borax) and give it with milk. . choice of antiviotic will vary from doctor ro doctor, and from locality to locality
4. Since they have prescribed asthalin and budecort which means there could be associated ronchii and also cough increases at night thus possibility of Asthma (atopic/allergic)should be discussed
